Our artist and chosen song

When looking for a song, we was searching for one under the hybrid genre called 'electro-pop' and this is because it meshed with the aesthetic we imagined. For our artist/song inspiration, we considered Lorde, Tove Lo - Habits (Stay high), Marina and the Diamonds, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse and Christina Aguilera. In spite of the diverse choices of artists, the main focuses were what type of image they show as an artist, what type of music they produce, what kind of creative style they display in their music videos in general and lastly, the pace of the song. The song is also suitable because the pace is fast enough to make a good amount of cuts that will keep the viewer's attention without being repetitive throughout the entire video.

This music video was our main and first inspiration and it is what we imagined in our head initially when thinking about what look we want our music video to have:

By going under the genre electro-pop genre, this allows us to be more creatively flexible when filming and such; because the genre is quite contemporary therefore there are no specific conventions that we have to follow. Our original idea was to have a bright, warm and summer-y look and to film around city markets however, that wouldn't be sensible because we'll be filming during October/December and it will get dark quicker. We particularly liked the look of this music video because the contrast between the blue/negative colour palette stood out against the neon lights throughout the video to us. Although, we thought that this might be unachievable because of technology/skill limitations.
